Some of you know that I like to help at the Fellowship Garden here in Elkin.  The fellowship garden is located off of 268 and is a 2-acre community garden. The garden relies entirely on volunteers to plant, harvest, and donate an average of 8 tons of fresh produce annually. Volunteers are welcome on Saturday, Tuesday, and Thursday starting around 8. We would love to have you join us! I try and be there on Saturdays.
It might seem crazy that I spend my time away from the garden at home, doing more gardening, but it feeds my soul in a few different ways. The first being that I love not being in charge of the garden! It helps to connect me back to growing food in a way that is removed from me trying to make a living. The second, and most personally important, are the people who work at the garden. Every single person who helps at the garden is a shining example of humanity and goodness in our community. I learn from them every time I am there and my family gains so much from being close to these kind and wonderful people. I am so proud of the produce that comes from the garden and all the places where it gets distributed.

I had a great time selling plants at Trail Days! Thank you to everyone who come down. Kelly, who runs Yoga on Main and Lavender Anne’s Herbs, was very generous in letting me set up in front of her shop. If you haven’t checked out her classes or herbal products, get to it! She runs both of her businesses with such thoughtfulness. We are lucky to have her and her family in our town.
